Recruitment in progress for 2007/2008

Curran

Growing up in SoCal I joined the lifeguard program as well as the swim team while in high school. Excelling at both I worked as a lifeguard on beaches on Catalina Island during the summers where I began training with mile-plus open water swims. Coming back to school and being on the varsity swim team I focused my attention on my favorite races, the 50 and 100 yard freestyle. During my high school years I also began teaching swim lessons part time.

After finishing high school early, I went on to college at Chapman University and focused my energy on obtaining my B.A. in Social Science while exploring new outdoor sports. During the summers of my college years I continued to refine how I taught swim lessons. After graduating from college I went into working in public education as a substitute teacher with Anaheim Unified School District, as well as an educator and medic with Orange County Outdoor Science School.

Out of everything I have done in the past, teaching hundreds of children (and quite a few adults) how to swim has been the most rewarding activity I have been involved in. I have coupled my experience as a lifeguard and swim instructor (13 years) with my knowledge of various teaching modalities to bring a safe and effective method for students to learn from.

I look forward to assisting your child in their swimming skills development.
